SwaddleDesigns was created by an RN and mother with consultations by PhDs in infant research. Experts agree swaddling is important. A Washington University study proved infants sleep better when swaddled. Swaddling also reduces incidences of SIDS. There is evidence that swaddled back sleeping infants have lower incidence of SIDS than unswaddled back sleeping infants as stated in the Journal of Pediatrics, December 2002. Swaddling may also reduce colic and fussiness and can help make breastfeeding easier by keeping baby's extra movements nicely contained when swaddled.
