Grow Green Baby Gift Cards. The eco-friendly way to give a gift

Green Tip #1: Organic
Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemicals, pesticides or genetically modified organisms. Conventional cotton uses 25% of all pesticides amounting to 50 million pounds on US fields alone! According to WHO, 20,000 deaths occur each year from pesticide poisoning in developing countries. In fact, just one tee shirt made from conventional cotton takes 1/4 pound of chemicals! Needless to say, organic cotton is the best for delicate babies and toddlers' sensitive skin, their health and our planet! This is why Grow Green Baby only offers organic clothing, bedding, blankets, mattresses, towels, plush toys and more. How could we not? To learn more about why organic cotton go to www.ota.com

Green Tip #2: Non-Toxic
BPA, phthalates, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), lead, VOC (volatile organic compounds), parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, these are just some of the toxins that are found in everyday baby products! Lets face it, it's hard to live without the convenience and cost effectiveness of plastic. Plastic is everywhere! But in the end, it may be a high price to pay for our health and the environment. Phthalates, a chemical found in PVC plastics commonly known as "vinyl" has become one of the most widely used plastics and one of the most toxic substances saturating our planet from its production, use and disposal. Phthalates in PVC plastics are possible hormone disruptors and probable carcinogens. PVC is used in plastic baby toys and teethers, baby bottles and other common items used by pregnant women and children under three. BPA (bisphenol-A), a chemical found in polycarbonate plastic, a hard plastic used in baby bottles and the plastic lining of cans is known to mimic the hormone estrogen in the body, which can cause changes in developing fetuses and infants. This chemical has also been linked to developmental and brain effects in infants. To learn more about these chemicals and their effects go to: www.healthychild.org

Green Tip #3: Eco-Friendly
Eco-friendly by definition means goods and services considered to inflict minimal harm on the environment. This means cleaner air, less energy, without pesticides or chemicals or less trash in our landfills. Remember the golden rule we all learned in kindergarten, treat others as you would like to be treated? Products you find here at Grow Green Baby are kind to our Mother Earth. Whether it is bamboo bibs and burps, aluminum sippy cups or hemp totes, all of our products are 100% eco-friendly! We've done our homework so you don't have to!

Green Tip #4: Reduce/Reuse/Recycle/Renew
We all agree that we must do our part to take care of our planet. This means making small changes in our daily lives that have great impact in reducing our carbon footprint. The best way to bring about this necessary change is by following the 4 principles of reduce, reuse, recycle and renew! Generally speaking, we need to use less of everything, reuse old things to make them new again and recycle our stuff to make new stuff. Here at Grow Green Baby we make this our mission by offering only "green" essentials for baby and mommy. For example, we have products made from the worlds most sustainable and ultimate renewable resource, bamboo. Also, we have stationary made from recycled paper or note cards that can be planted to grow wild flowers. We even found recycled milk jugs made into sand, gardening and tea sets! Our goal is to help leave behind a greener, healthier world today for our future generation's tomorrow.

Green Tip #5: Fair Trade
Fair Trade is about providing fair wages along with safe, healthy working conditions within the international trading market. Fair Trade strictly prohibits child labor and honors women artisans allowing them to earn income for their families. This allows investing back into their communities in terms of education, job training, health care and child care. Fair Trade is all about empowerment! Look for the Fair Trade icon while shopping our site and help support this positive and powerful change. Grow Green Baby has one of a kind, beautiful handmade jewelry for that special mom to be made by the special talents of women in Bali, just one of the 58 developing countries around the world!
